The Okanogan Coalition for Health Improvement (CHI) is looking for a CHI Lead to help guide our community health coalition in Okanogan County. This role is all about bringing people together, fostering partnerships, and supporting community-driven solutions to health disparities.   • Title: CHI Lead 

  • Position Type: Contract

  • Pay & Hours: $90/hr, approximately 20 hrs/week

  • Start Date: Position starts January 1, 2026,  onboarding at approximately 5 hrs/week to being in December as Lead is available

  • Location: CHI lead must live in Okanogan County; work is primarily remote though regular in-person meetings are required

The Coalition for Health Improvement (CHI) is a network of community health providers in Okanogan County that brings local leaders, organizations, and ideas together to eliminate health disparities and build a healthier future for people all across Okanogan County. After more than a decade, the CHI has come to serve as a powerful convener, creating space for a diversity of local leaders to collaborate on solutions that matter most in our communities. Position Summary

CHI is seeking a Coalition Lead to help guide and grow our coalition in Okanogan County. This role is about more than coordination — it’s about fostering community connections, creating ripe spaces for collaboration, and positioning the CHI as a powerful network moving together towards health improvement.

The Coalition Lead will work closely with the CHI Leadership Council and coalition members to set strategic direction, organize coalition activities, strengthen partnerships, and carry forward CHI’s commitment to advancing the Vital Conditions and eliminating health disparities. This position will be rooted in practices of inclusive leadership, health equity, and distributed leadership.

Roles & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Direction: 

Role: Serve as a strategic compass for the CHI, shaping priorities alongside the Leadership Council, facilitating collaboration that drives our goals, and ensuring every step we take works to eliminate health disparities and set the conditions for health transformation.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and partner with the CHI Leadership Council to set and maintain coalition priorities

  • Develop annual strategy plans and operating frameworks that advance the Vital Conditions and take on health disparities

  • Ensure CHI’s alignment and strategic clarity in CHI activities, assessing how activities address health disparities, leverage community assets, and create opportunities for long-term impact

Coalition Membership & Engagement:

Role: Nurture a vibrant coalition by facilitating regular gatherings, engaging a wide circle of community leaders, and weaving together relationships that make cross-sector collaboration not just possible, but powerful.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly facilitate or support facilitation of regular coalition gatherings (at least 6 meetings annually, plus additional events)

  • Engage a broad and diverse group of stakeholders across Okanogan County as members and people who feel belonging in the CHI

  • Steward meaningful relationships across programs and sectors, encouraging collaboration, strategic clarity, and deep relationships

  • Communicate regularly to CHI network through listserve and website

  • Hire future “network navigator” to lead membership engagement

Program & Activity Coordination

Role: Be the coordinator who turns vision into action: designing a coalition workplan, supporting members as they launch multi-solver projects, and ensuring our collective impact is visible to both our community and funders.

  • Develop and ensure roll-out of an annual coalition workplan aligned with CHI’s principles and goals.

  • Support members in implementing strategic projects, including collaborative “multi-solver” initiatives that strengthen community health and civic capacity

  • Report on coalition activities to Leadership Council and funders

  • Monitor and manage CHI Budget

Qualifications

We know that strong community leadership comes in many forms. The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Passion for and clarity within community health, equity, and collaboration

  • Exceptional strategic facilitation and meeting management skills

  • Ability to skillfully and sustainably engage stakeholders across diverse backgrounds and sectors

  • Strong organizational skills to manage activities, communications, and reporting

  • High competency with technology for meetings, email communications, and record-keeping

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in coalition-building, community organizing, or public health 

  • Strong roots in Okanogan County or rural Washington and extensive understanding local community health issues
